I would be interested to contact people in Perth who have an interest in Theory U.

Hi All,

Just to let everyone know what's coming up in our part of the AoH world.

  • We will be running three AoH programs in May, August and November.  For the August program we will be joined by Toke, Monica and Phil Cass.
  • We are running a "Stewardship Development Porgram" for our clients.  This will involve a monthly session of deepening practice and understanding theory and design.  That will include sessions with Toke, Christina and Ann (Circle), David Isaacs (Workld Cafe) and hopefully Meg Wheatley.
  • We will be offering "masterclasses" in Circle, Harvesting, Storytelling and World Cafe.  Circle and Storytelling will be in July, we are looking at June for the World Cafe one and September for Harvesting with Monica Nissen.
  • Finally we are developing accredited courses in "Social Leadership" that will include a whiole subject on the Art of Hosting, along with Strategy, Finance and Systems.

If you want to know more you can go to www.success-works.com.au (with more detail going up very soon!) or call us on 03 9946 6800 and ask for Debbie, Linette or me.

Hi Kati and everyone else

I'm working at the Family Action Centre, Newcastle Uni and am actively involved in Transition Newcastle. I'm currently teaching two courses (one undergraduate and one postgrad) on engaging communities and a postgrad couse on community capacity building. Unfortunately the two community engagement courses are on-line so I don't actually meet any of the students.

The capacity building course is also online but does include 3X2 hour workshops so I'm planning to incorporate AoH into these workshops. I'm also looking at how to include more material on sustainability in the community engagement courses (without pushing my agenda too much).

I'm interested in learning more about Green Steps, particularly as I see the student program is coming to Newcastle and the work one is coming to Sydney. I'd be interested in seeing if there is anyway I could help with the Newcastle course even if it is just promoting it further.

I've only had a quick look at the info on Green Steps so I will have a closer look as a first step.

Regards

Graeme

Hi Kati

Thanks for the post. I am Melbourne based and am keen to hear about your experiences.. With friends I convened an AofH program in October last year and was also involved in hosting an experienced practitioner retreat in October last year too.

There is a Community of Practice in Melbourne that meets spasmodically. Not sure when the next meet-up. However, Stephen Duns (also a member of this groups) may know as his organisation, Success Works, hosts Toke and Monica in Australia periodically.

My email is Richard@theholosgroup.com if you want to catch.

Cheers

Rich

Thanks for the creation Mary Alice.

How wonderful to be able to step into this already established site and find some new and dear friends on here already.  This will be a year (or three) for us, of building a community of practitioners in the art of hosting - a community that will quietly support and nurture our efforts for an inclusive community.  We have a core group of people from the Couran Cove Art of Hosting training we did in August with Toke and Monica - some of whom have hosted and worked together before and are very comfortable with conversation as a way of working with people.  We are based in Queensland but have some much loved and well aligned relations in the southern states.  Will keep you posted as our community starts to bloom.

Great to see an Aussie group already started here Mary Alice, thanks!
I've recently returned to Melbourne after a year in Sweden studying my Masters in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability in an amazing education program that used lots of AoH processes. While I was there I co-organised AoH Karlskrona, a training for 100 young people passionate about sustainability, social innovation and entrepreneurship studying across Europe (I harvested my learning as an organiser here http://adventuresofkt.wordpress.com/tag/art-of-hosting/ if you'd like to read more).

I'm now coordinating a sustainability education program called Green Steps at Monash Uni and am keen to bring AoH into our work with sustainability change agents. Would love to connect with Australian AoH practitioners face to face at any upcoming get togethers or AoH gatherings in or around Melbourne.

Warmly, Kati
