Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I came into contact with art of hosting at a course at Launde Abbey in the UK in 2008. There I met people who have turned into very dear good friends and work colleagues and I think I can say that this course , this meeting, this experience changed my life. Its like its what I had been waiting for - for years, and it scared the pants off me ! Firstly this way of working changed how I design and host events, now it seems to be operating on the way I live my life ( as in open space in as much emergence as possible and living and breathing the chaordic space ) What attracted me is the simple humanity. the simple humaness of meeting together in well held spaces where we can discover and the speak our truths. What holds me now is community and relationship and the potential of what we all hold together for the future
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
Im a very well seasoned practitioner and life long learner. More and more I'm moving into stewardship and supporting others in their journeys and hosting experiences.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
I make my living hosting meeting space between local grass roots communities, civil society organisations and the publci sector in the UK. Hosting and teaching the design architecture, hosting, holding and harvesting of healthy productinve meeting places and spaces. This last year I have been part of a core group stewarding and developing two multi stakeholder projects, one on food and one on finance in the UK. This has moved me into the whole field of systemic social innovation work. How do we bring about systemic change? what does that mean? - how do we scale up our work and hold it long term? Im interested in the whole area of collective intelligence, field work and developing networks and relationship between us.
Where do you live/work?
Leeds UK

That would definitely be fun!  I am actually in the UK twice a year for a retreat in Wales. Maybe we could cook up something.  Meanwhile keep up the good work.  Many hugs, Mara

Hi Linda,

Thank you for your kind words.  Yes the circle is indeed protecting and supporting me, I am glad that you remind me of that aspect also.

And also thanks for the Norwegian's name.  I will contact him to see what we can share together.

By the way, when I read your stuff about what you do, I became so engaged and interested.  I would have loved to know more and to hang out up in your neck of the woods.

hugs and love,

Mara
