How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I heard about AoH through two colleagues who went on a course in the UK. I looked into it and thought that I ought to find out what it was about by experiencing it for myself, as someone moving into more facilitation and leadership practices. I travelled to Kalundborg, Denmark in October for an AoH training course.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
It's a bit early to say (I only got back last night), but I feel that it has both given me a new set of principles and tools to approach my current work, and a renewed clarity and energy for determining my personal purpose and contribution. Although I have been facilitating groups for five years, I am a new and starting practitioner of AoH.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
Helping large organisations - mainly major not-for-profits and government departments - navigate change around the impact of new digital and social ways of working.
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
I'm a dad (my greatest passion), I enjoy running and other forms of exercise, particularly chinese martial arts. Between that and work, I don't have time for much else :)

hi Max! it's good to see you here! Thank you for your message and interest to practice AoH in the UK. It came with perfect timing because we're hosting a series of gatherings about the Commons, honoring the work of the late Elinor Ostrom, and the hosting team of the Health Commons event, next Tuesday, could use your help. The previous version of the flow of the day, which needs to be updated in AoH style is here. If you have time to support this event, let's talk this weekend.
Btw, we also share an interest in online communities. I've been designing and hosting virtual communities professionally, on a variety of platform, since the mid 80's. I also noticed that you were involved with CityCamp Brighton. I was a speaker Integral City 2.0 and blogged about it here. Finally, I'm a Fellow of Future Considerations, another Worldblu award-winning, democratic company. As you may know, we are partnering, from time to time, with NixonMcInnes.
If any of these co-incidences strikes your fancy to chat, drop me a line at george(at)futureconsiderations(dot)com.
Hello Max and welcome to the aoh ning! There's lots going on here, many great conversations being held and groups being formed. Be sure to upload a picture of yourself. Look forward to exchanging with you on the ning!
