Robb Kushner said… Ah, Paris.... haven't been there, but someday..... I sure hope to.
Yes, in America we have relatively recently rediscovered the value of vibrant public spaces - something I suppose other societies never lost touch with.
Robb Kushner said… Definitely Quincy Market. Haven't been to Fenway Park, so can't comment on it.
Have been to the river walk in Providence and seen WaterFire, which was amazing - even in a light evening rain!
Basically, I define vibrant public spaces as areas where people like to hang out - alone or with others, enjoy themselves, converse and/or recreate. Usually outdoor, green spaces, but they can be indoors and not always so green.
I find it Interesting that Starbucks has integrated what are essentially public spaces into all of their shops with sufficient room for seating. To me, this is a significant trend in our society - much more so than the coffee, tea, and snacks that they serve!

With pleasure! Would be great if you could write to her and put me on copy.
Hope all is well with you! Just spent the weekend with Chhaya in Caux. Shhe's taken to AoH like a duck to water. Very fun to have her in the community :)
ALl the best,
Caroline
Carrio said…
Flemming Funch said… Merci pour l'accueil chaleureux ! I'm originally from Denmark, but spent many years in Los Angeles. So, I signed up for a few groups, including the francophone one, and I'll take a look around.
Pierre Paris said… Nancy bonjour, merci de cet accueil, oui je compte bien rejoindre le groupe francophone et espère même vous rencontrer au cours de la journée du 15 Mars à Paris. Bien cordialement, Pierre
Dennis Atchison said… Hi Nancy and thanks ... this is so much fun! In some ways it is new, but mostly for me it feels like coming home. Play has been a dominant theme of my life, and so much of AoH is rooted in play-full-ness and attention to the energies which shift, converge, diverge and ascend as people do stuff together ... well, it just feels so good to know and find others who "see" and practice this as well. Much gratitude to Kathy Jourdain and Amanda Haché for inviting me. Thanks for the welcome, and any initial suggestions or advice please share. D
