AoH francophone fin juin!

Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I came into this community thanks to Ria Baeck, Judith Heezen and Lieven Callewaert back in February 2008 when I partook in the second iteration of Women Moving the Edge at Heerlijckyt. That was my first AoH "happening" and it changed my life ... I walked into this free of any expectations or objectives, beyond learning and discovering new paradigms. It is undoubtedly my unmitigated trust in these 3 people and my addiction to adventure that attracted me!
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I have grown with AoH as a "tutor" since March 2008 and it is now an integral part of the work that I do or at least touches the work I do in organisations. I have attended 3 subsequent enquiries and called the first AoH in French in Compiègne France along with my mates, Helga, Laurence and Nad in July 2010. This was a new birth for the French-speaking community which today is vibrant and calling for more! The journey continues...
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
As an interculturalist, I am opening my work as a result of the hosting practices. Rather than addressing the intercultural component as a "service to deliver", I invite participants to take responsibility for their development. I continue to bring my field competence. But my methods are participatory, the learning is co-created, participants take ownership and the changes are sustained. It's amazing what can happen when you turn the keys over to the the learners!
Where do you live/work?
Paris
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
The potential in organisations when the essensial benefits of being happy are grasped.
New leadership paradigms.

Have been to the river walk in Providence and seen WaterFire, which was amazing - even in a light evening rain!

Basically, I define vibrant public spaces as areas where people like to hang out - alone or with others, enjoy themselves, converse and/or recreate. Usually outdoor, green spaces, but they can be indoors and not always so green.

I find it Interesting that Starbucks has integrated what are essentially public spaces into all of their shops with sufficient room for seating. To me, this is a significant trend in our society - much more so than the coffee, tea, and snacks that they serve!

Dear Nancy,

I'm originally from Denmark, but spent many years in Los Angeles. So, I signed up for a few groups, including the francophone one, and I'll take a look around.
