Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I am an affectionate ally & new-ish practitioner, having several dear friends amongst the stewards of the Art of Hosting and having participated in a learning retreat at the Whidbey Institute in January 2008. I've also participated in a couple of gatherings that embodied AoH hosting practices (Leadership in a Self-Organizing World in spring of '09, and Warrior of the Heart training on Bowen Island in August '10)
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I'm still a "starting practitioner," I would say, as the particular AoH mental models and practices and perspectives continue to sink into my life and work.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
I'm an acupuncturist, naturopathic physician, educator, and part-time director of our university's center for spirituality, science and medicine - the practice of hosting and the practice of healing seem to me to be fundamentally aligned, and maybe they are the very same thing.
Where do you live/work?
Seattle, WA
Would you like to share a web address?

Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
I have recently become re-enchanted with the practice of homeopathic medicine - I studied it intensively 20 years ago, and then ended up concentrating on other modalities. Along with being an effective healing tool, homeopathy is a way of understanding how each human life resonates very deeply with the intrinsic energy of some aspect of the natural world - some aspect of plant, mineral, or animal kingdoms. I am not sure how or if that has anything to do with hosting practice, but I am interested in how it might.

Hi Christy,

and I'm very much appreciating your "the practice of hosting and the practice of healing seem to me to be the very same thing"...

I've just finished reading Upledger's book on his discovery of craniosacral work... much there, that resonates with what you wrote.

with all best wishes,

Rosa
