The Art of Hosting & Harvesting Conversations that Matter - Training at Cloquet Forestry Center

September 15, 2019 at 6pm to September 18, 2019 at 12pm
PURPOSE, PARADIGMS, & PARADOX:How do we build our capacity to navigate together with ease for a thriving future? In a time when we are living and holding polarities across race, age, culture, religions and beliefs, there is a need to build our capacity for navigating our way together. We can find our way through our ability to hold paradox - it's not an "either or" but a "both and" that will help us find our way. In this 3-day "Art of Hosting Conversations that Matter" training, sometimes…See More

Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I heard about the Art of Hosting for the first time in autumn 2013 in Karlskrona, Sweden. Among the master's students in strategic leadership towards sustainability we were starting the conversation about organizing the 5th Art of Hosting training. Besides a personal hunch, it attracted me when I heard that AoH is about participatory ways to co-create the future we want.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I am a starting practitioner. My first practical experience was the Art of Hosting Learning Village in Copenhagen in January 2014. Already before I had joined the organizing team for the Art of Hosting training 2014 in Karlskrona, which took place now in March. Besides being part of the organizing team, I got the great opportunity to be part of the extended hosting team. This means that I participated in the design days before the training and was apprentice of one day hosting team. Apart from that I participated in the same training. Now the magic of AoH has me!
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
My focus is totally open at the moment. I have a background in strategic leadership towards sustainability, leisure and tourism, and youth work. I am stepping into the community of practice in order to learn, to be an apprentice, make connections and share with an open heart.
Where do you live/work?
Karlskrona, Sweden - soon Copenhagen, Denmark (July 2014)
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
to create and to be in connection and community, to bring people together, and to be together in a way in which we can play, dance, laugh as we are, as well as have meaningful conversation and dreams and empower and encourage each other to act on them

Yes, this is a grand gathering! Keeps us well connected... I can imagine the week in Karlskrona was amazing ... and this week ALIA opens with our dear Maaike. There's so much cake to eat out there... where to begin?!

I know we'll be coming together sometime in some learning village or seminar. Be well! And big hugs!

Viola! I am so pleased to be the administrator that welcomes you into the Art of Hosting community! Synchronicity has magical ways of working ... and though there are several of us who welcome newcomers in, I happened to be here when you knocked on the door... and that's the only thing that could happen!  I hope you are well. So glad to see you here. Post a photo when you can so we can really "see" you here. Then join in with all the conversations. You'll find plenty of resources here to help you deepen your practice. And the more you add to your profile, the more the community can learn from you and share with you. We hope you will find value in exchanging in this virtual community! And I personally hope our paths cross again real soon... ;-) With warm regards and a BIG HUG!!!
