How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I first discovered AoH on the Berkana website and then was introduced to it more fully through ALIA and Christina Baldwin.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I have studied circle and story with Christina Baldwin, and I use those principles in the courses I teach in writing, leadership, and creativity. I have also been exposed to other AoH principles through ALIA and would say that I am a starting practitioner in it and am eager to learn more. I have worked in international development for a number of years and am especially interested in using AoH in a global platform.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
Right now I am teaching a variety of writing, leadership, and facilitation courses in the continuing education program at the local university, so that is my primary interest. I am building a leadership and communication consulting business and I hope to do more AoH in the future, particularly in the fields of education and public health.
I thought this was rather appropriate for much of the Art of Hosting work... a sign that says "I know there's a need for caution up ahead, but I no longer know how to define it."
Welcome, Heather, great to see you here (that is, we WILL see you when you upload a photo - got a good one? -- or a drawing?). The more you add to your profile, the more the community can see how to connect with you. There are plenty of resources to have a look at and conversations to become part of -- I know you a already a great contribution to it!
