Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
After working with Tim Merry on the Youth Social Infrastructure Collaborative for a year, and being a participant in Art of Hosting methodologies, I wanted more training.

My first training gathering was the Art of Social Innovation, held at Windhorse Farm in Nova Scotia, Canada on April 27-30, 2010.

I then took part as an apprentice in the Art of Taking Participatory Leadership to Scale on Centre Island in Toronto on November 10-12, 2010.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I am a starting practioner in the methodologies of Art of Hosting, however, I've been hosting participatory processes and conversations within a youth engagement context for 10 years.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
Right now, I primarily work with young people and community-based mental health agencies. I host conversations & gatherings with youth and with mental health professionals around topics like youth engagement, system reform, participatory leadership & stigma.
Where do you live/work?
I live in Toronto and I work across Ontario.
Would you like to share a web address?
http://www.thenewmentality.ca
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
I am passionate about working with youth who challenge the status quo and create spaces for love, creativity and fun within historically serious and bureaucratic institutions. I am also passionate about finding the change agents within an organization who courageously and compassionatly embody innovation.
