The Art of Hosting

I am interested in the educational application of the Art of Hosting techniques. What would happen if the teacher took up the role of host? Does anyone have experience or information on the use of Open Space or World Cafe as a teaching method? What about using the methods in an on-line environment?

Any assistance would be appriciated!

Hi Jennifer,

I am using small exercises from Art of Hosting in non-formal education with youth and AIESEC students (e.g. triads, presencing journaling excercise, World Café, circles, storytelling, etc.).

And it is often part of social innovation education. Some further links in this blog article that I have written today.

Tim Merry from the AoH Community in Canada is using AoH also a lot in his youth work.

Best from Berlin,

Frauke

Hello Jennifer,

I might be able to contribute to your question but wonder if you could shed a bit more light....what is the educational setting or context you are imagining using OS or WC? The who and the what sort of thing.

Cheers,

Amanda

Hi Jennifer,
There is lot's bubbling in AoH in Education and therefore, I have created a new group on this ning: http://artofhosting.ning.com/group/aohineducation
Great idea Frauke!

Hey Jennifer and all.

We are a group of practicioners in Denmark who have been invited to host a workshop for teachers, principles and people who are passionate about improoving public education. The focus for this specific workshop is Primary schools. The workshop is taking place in september, and I am sure there will be a lot of learning to be shared as the teachers get familiar with the methods and start hosting.

Stay tuned for more info

Hi Frauke

Please let me apologise for the delay in responding to your post, life has been throwing challenges at me and I have not been able to respond as quickly as I would like. I am interested in learning more about how you have been using the AoH techniques in an educational setting and perhaps what you have learnt (what worked for you and what didn’t)

Thank you for your patience, Jennifer

Hi Amanda

Firsty let me apologise for the delay in responding to your post, life has been throwing challenges at me and I have not been able to respond as quickly as I would like.

I am interested in learning more about using any AoH technique in a Academeic setting such as a Collage or Univeristy. I have just started a role where I am providing proffestional development to Higher Education Lecurers and Tutors and I want to use it with them and also encourage them to apply it in their classrooms.

Thank you for your patience, Jennifer

I am very interested in what you plan to do with the teachers and if you have any articals you have found that supports the educational application of AoH?

Thank you for your patience, Jennifer
