How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I heard about AoH through a friend, about 7 years ago. What attracted me to it was the way in which this friend responded to hearing a call and responding to it. Three of us had been discussing the role of the media in reporting conflict. I think AoH training enabled her to pick up on that conversation and run with it in a way I'd never seen before. Within a matter of weeks we'd talked in depth several times and she'd brought together allies from far and wide.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
Oh I'm a baby AoH practitioner, I took my first steps on the AoH advanced practice course. It resonates and builds on a fair degree of previous training and experience - person centred psychotherapy, user-led service development, somatic movement studies, process work and deep democracy and conflict facilitation.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
I've got a couple of things calling right now; developing collaborative approaches in the UK 3rd Sector and supporting a national narrative which explores how the UK might benefit from redefining its perspective of women through better understanding the ethos of women centred services.
