How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
Not sure of the first encounter but it was through Linda Mitchell and Mike Love in about 2010 and attending a taster in Leeds that they arranged. Having heard Mike talk about it at that point it seemed to make sense of so much of the work we were doing and wanting to do in Leeds.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I might dare to say that I am becoming an experienced practitioner. Hosting and Harvesting are at the centre of pretty much all my work creating learning environments, supporting systems change, helping groups to make sense of their learning and communicate that, and holding open space for those whose voices aren't always heard to feel able to particpate equally alongside those used to being listened to. I came into this work primarily focusing on harvesting and have increasingly stepped into more hosting over the last few years.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
Poverty, systems change, community development.
Where do you live/work?
Grounded in Leeds, love to work to support others elsewhere when the work and relationships call me.
