How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I have been involved in many forms of community and organizational practices and had heard of AoH. In November 2013 some trusted friends in community posted an invitation for an AoH event at IONS in California with Hendrick Tiesinga and Simone Tiesinga-Poutnik. One of my primary focuses is to develop regenerative enterprise consulting, coaching and incubation programs to support and develop new, emerging, and existing solution-driven organizations, projects, and programs; as well as become more effective in hosting multi-stakeholder, cross-sector and international sustainability and impact-driven collaborations.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I'm new to the specific AoH organization, but have both experienced and used similar tools and practices in different formats, contexts and applications. Though I have engaged this work on numerous levels and in numerous contexts, I would consider myself a starting practitioner in collaborative organizational processes. I have always worked collaboratively, so every project I engage benefits from collaboration. There is nothing more exciting to me than encouraging and supporting all stakeholders to come to the table, engage, participate, think creatively, listen actively and openly, step up and be courageous, have fun, support others, and then bring it all into focus on discovering and delivering innovative, strategic solutions critical to social, environmental and economic progress.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
The development, implementation and acceleration of climate and environmental solution initiatives, policies, programs and enterprises.
Where do you live/work?
Currently based in the Washington DC area, but work nationally and internationally as needed.
