Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
Surfed into the site from Google while seeking the origin of the expression "holding space".
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
"Hosting" as you call it is a key function of Native American Church ceremonial practice. In Sahaptian, a language group that include Yakima and Nez Perce, we call it "Yuhnipi" which translates as "breath/speaking + structure". Some people today cal it the "Talking Circle", but it is more accurately the "Listening Circle".
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
As a pastor and traditional spiritual leader, as a teacher and Bible translator (Cherokee Bible Project).
Where do you live/work?
Southern Illinois, AKA "Little Egypt"
Would you like to share a web address?
http://TheNativeAmericanChurch.com
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
Indigenous healing including Plant Medicines, Stone Medicine, Dream/Vision Work, receiving guidance from the Ancestors, Animal Communication.

Hello, Brian, and welcome to the Art of Hosting community! Glad to see you here. Post a photo when you can so we can really "see" you here. Then join in with all the conversations. You'll find plenty of resources here, too, to help you deepen your practice. And the more you add to your profile, the more the community can learn from you and share with you. We hope you will find value in exchanging in this virtual community! And I want to add that I was personally very touched by how you learnt about us (googling to learn the origin of the expression "holding space" ... and we do a lot of that!) and to learn the Sahaptian version of hosting ... "breath/speaking structure"... that's beautiful... Thank you.
