How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I attended a 5 day Art of Hosting workshop at Kurri Kurri NSW, Australia in March 2014. I have so much to learn - but was so excited and grateful to be exposed to this fabulous community and wealth of knowledge. My yearning has always been to help in any way to work with and encourage others to actively create the kind of world (communities) we want. The practices within Participatory Leadership and AoH are at the heart, methods that acknowledge and respect the wisdom of each individual and at the same time, are structured in ways that harness collective wisdom which is essential for a harmonious and sustainably functioning world.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I don't think my strength will be as a AoH practitioner in a direct (host) sense - I seem to be turning into a 'serial instigator' :) bringing people together within the community in however many different ways and situations that present themselves to me. Film & Forum Nights - Guerilla Gardening - Street Art that gives youth a voice in the place where they live. I am currently working with 2 others to host a Pro Action Cafe on November 1st. Very excited and hope that this will be the first of many!
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
Generating situations and presenting opportunities where people can - connect with others - open to possibilities - begin to believe we can create the world we want - together. Having real and connected conversations is integral to this and it is an art in which I am still a beginner.
Where do you live/work?
South Coast NSW Australia -

Hello, Bernadine, and welcome to the Art of Hosting community! Glad to see you here, our first self-proclaimed "serial instigator" (what a wonderful identity!) Post a photo when you can so we can really "see" you here. Then join in with all the conversations. You'll find plenty of resources here, too, to help you deepen your practice. And the more you add to your profile, the more the community can learn from you and share with you. We hope you will find value in exchanging in this virtual community!
