Art of Hosting: Facilitating Hawaii's New Edge

If you’re reading this invitation, you already know Hawaii is poised to trailblaze solutions that require unprecedented levels of creativity and collaboration. So, we have been asking: how can we foster a culture that collaborates openly and leads creatively?

We believe that one element of the answer is to foster conversations that matter: by hosting deep conversations, harvesting the intelligence of our diverse communities, and building authentic engagement.

Join us for Facilitating Hawaii’s New Edge, a 3-day immersive training for leaders at the forefront of change. Elemental Excelerator and Impact Hub Honolulu team up to bring the large-group facilitation practice of Art of Hosting back to Hawaii.

What is Art of Hosting?

Art of Hosting creates a common language to facilitate meaningful conversations that empower communities to play a role in the conversation. This training will teach new skills and provide frameworks for Hawaii's leaders and facilitators to build strong core teams, work with community and stakeholders, identify and leverage common ground and lead systemic change.

You will gain an understanding of specific powerful frameworks that guide process design, including:

• World Café

• ProAction Café

• Circle Processes

• Theory U

• Open Space Technology

These tools can be used in diverse settings: from small to large groups, and across generations and cultures.

Why you should be here:

Anyone who engages with a group as a participant, leader, or facilitator, Art of Hosting can open up new avenues for practicing leadership, utilizing storytelling in conversation, and creating more effective group process.

Isn’t three days a long time?

Nope. Because Art of Hosting trains with intention to get results. Three days is tried and true. It is the ideal amount of time you need to understand the approaches, apply what you learn, and leave equipped to teach your team everything you know.

To get your juices flowing here are some questions we may be diving into:

• How can we co-create a future for Hawaii that’s thriving and just?

• How can we foster real collaboration and take risks in order to disrupt the status quo?

• What kind of culture shift is needed in my organization to innovate in a complex and changing environment? (e.g. Failing fast, taking risks, adaptive leadership, collective wisdom)

• How might we build strong teams, strong collaborations, and generative insights that launches our organization to the forefront of key issues?
