How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I was reading some of Margaret Wheatley's online articles and she made reference to "the art of hosting". I googled it, and voila! Here I am. (5/11/2012, at home in CQ, Australia)
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
A number of years ago I was given "Thr Art of Focused Conversations" by a woman who followed the work of Meg Wheatley. I have been using this as a model for much of the group and community work that I do, and feel comfortable in style of facilitating meaningful conversations. Therefore while I am new to the art of hosting, I feel very drawn to the philosophies and principles.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
I am a psychologist with a small private practice in a rural town. I see mostly children and their families. For 10 years I have also designed and facilitated programs (repeats, reflections days, lifeskills sessions & focus groups programs) with high school and primary school students. Very recently, I have begun to explore ways in which to apply my learnings about creating cultural change to the organisational development field.
Where do you live/work?
(Central Queensland), Australia

Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
Embedding the principles of hosting into programs that aim to provide opportunities for people to grow, change and flourish. As well as meaningful conversations, the programs include experiential learning, group activities, games and multimedia to facilitate the process of learning and discovery.

Welcome to the Art of Hosting community, Majella! Glad to see you here - and nice to see another Kaospilot onboard! Please post a photo when you can so we can really "see" you here. Then join in with all the conversations. You'll find plenty of resources here, too, to help you deepen your practice. And the more you add to your profile, the more the community can learn from you and share with you.

There is a vibrant Art of Hosting community in Queensland.  Your best contacts are Wallis Westbrook or Valmae Rose.
