How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
In May-July 2012 while in the process of transitioning from negotiation consulting to multi-stakeholder dialogue facilitation, I helped a young change maker from South Africa raise funds to travel to Brazil in order to co-host several events, including the Art of Hosting Rio de Janeiro. The Art of Hosting used many theories and tools I was familiar with (such as Theory U, World Cafe, etc.), and at the same time it suggested a holistic and open-minded approach to hosting generative dialogues.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I attended the Art of Participatory Leadership and Social Innovation at Stillheart Institute, CA in August 23-25, 2012 with Kathy Jourdain, Jerry Nagel and other experienced AOH practitioners. I also had a privilege to co-facilitate Open Space with Jeff Aitken and serve for the Harvest Team with Ann Badillo. I would define myself as a starting practitioner who is truly passionate about the Art of Hosting and actively welcomes volunteer opportunities.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
I am on a long journey of building capacity to empower people with freedom to co-create their own future.
As part of this journey, I serve for the Communications Committee of the Academy of Management Entrepreneurship Division with the purpose to empower all my fellow members with freedom to co-create the future of the Division by bringing together all the voices that seek to be heard and making them sound for the ENT community.
Meanwhile, as a founding member of the CIC Consulting Network, I am working on bringing together people from China and the West to build trust and understanding beyond cultural mental models.
Finally, I am open to projects of various kinds, and enjoy dancing with the flow.
Hi Fe, apologies for the delay in responding. I would be really happy to talk about opportunities in the former USSR. My new work is taking me to Kazakhstan and neighbouring places and I am keen to explore the potential of this method there. In the next few weeks I am away but after that let's be in touch in more detail. All the best, Stephanie
Welcome to the Art of Hosting community, Fedor! Glad to see you here! Please post a photo when you can so we can really "see" you here. Then join in with all the conversations. You'll find plenty of resources here, too, to help you deepen your practice. And the more you add to your profile, the more the community can learn from you and share with you.
