How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I attended my first training in 2006 through an invitation to community leaders to learn how to hold conversations that matter. It intrigued me.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
Since then I have embedded Art of Hosting techniques in my work as City Manager for the City of Upper Arlington, Ohio. Then we hosted a training for a diverse group of community members with the calling question "How can we nurture a shift in public discourse to a place where all voices are encouraged, heard with respect and kindness, and our passions and visions meet in shared responsibility for our community's future?"
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
public discourse; community conversations
Where do you live/work?
Ohio, USA
