How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
Friends and co-initiators of De Universiteit - a growing community of self-directed students hosting their own learning environment which was first set up in Utrecht - pointed the Art of Hosting out to me in spring 2011.
What attracted me to join my first Art of Hosting training a year later was my experience with hosting creative learning sessions: I wanted to learn more. I felt that a large part of being a host involved tacit knowledge, which the Art of Hosting community seemed to know a great deal about.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
Both inside and outside my work in (higher) education, I have spent several years developing my skill in planning and hosting creative learning sessions. This has provided me with plenty experience in hosting learning as well as experience with the Art of hosting in general.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
Learning in the sense of 'Ako':
Being a teacher, being a learner and being part of a learning community.
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
I am passionate about our abilities and possibilities as people to come together and take our learning into our own hands. I seek to practice this passion in my work and as an initiator of and practitioner in De Universiteit (see link).
