Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
First experienced AoH while working in a HR division at a University, this was in September 2009, Melbourne, Australia.
Having fallen for my Health Promotion course as an Undergraduate and become a believer in promoting positive Psychology in my Post Graduate studies, I was just ready to go when first introduced to Circle and Open Space Technology. I have been embracing AoH approaches ever since.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
After being introduced to AoH in September 2009 I was quick to adopt approaches and unafraid to try new techniques or make adjustments if necessary. I would still consider my self as a starting practitioner, but have created opportunities when ever and where ever I can to introduce others to these practices.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
I started working in the field of leadership at Melbourne University, mainly with senior academics but I also pushed down to begin work with staff actively teaching too.
Now I am working on a project at another University that has ambitions of shifting the learning focus of struggling first year students to process rather than grades and in the journey connect with each other and become learning warriors. The program I am in the middle of designing will also draw on post graduate sessional staff as mentors, and my plan is that they will more hosts than mentors. It should be heaps of fun.
Where do you live/work?
I live in Melbourne, and work at Swinburne University.

Welcome to the online community of Art of Hosting! We hope that you find your way around here and that you can learn and contribute. Just recently there is a group opened on AoH in relation to Education, I think your experiences and stories are most welcome.
If you have questions, please ask!

Can we ask to upload a picture? as we like to have 'real' faces here...

With best regards,
Ria
