Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I learned first about Art of Hosting in university when I was an AIESEC member and facilitated conferences. Later on I stayed in touch with some friends who were involved in the Art of Hosting and I participated to an Art of Hosting weekend in Allgäu, Germany in June 2012. I always felt attracted to AoH from the first time I experienced it because the methods and the way a space is made for meaningful conversations enables people to enter into a much deeper sense of themselves, and on each other. This aspires a group to act together as one and create a sense of power which makes almost everything possible.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I used AoH mainly in organisations and for the past year i stared at community level in my homecountry, Luxembourg. The AoH practices facilitate people's engagement and its worldview and principles make people feel more comfortable in being themselves and thus become more opened to others. I believe that it's from that space that we can manage to engage different people for a common purpose.
I personnally used Art of Hosting for students, in areas like leadership exploration. Now concretely I use AoH to foster the collective intelligence from participants to create new ideas and innovate. I therefore use the more common methods like World Café, Proaction Café and Open Space. Having an economist background and having worked in business processes during the past years. I naturally have a systemic view of things and i use systems design techniques to translate work processes into a visible system. I have not recently used the techniques to get into deeper conversations like Theory U f.ex. and facilitating the state of presencing is for me a place in which i would need more guidance, as for the time being I miss a person with whom I can practice such a technique more deeply. I consider myself a starting practicioner, because a lot has yet to be discovered and practiced.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
My main topic lies in innovation and creativity. I aim at making people beome aware of mental models and use their peers' views and analysis of a situation and build on it. The systemic view of a situation is a process in which I tend to use a lot of Peter Senge's work where multidscplinarity in a group is key to define, test and implement an action which brings lasting improvements.
Where do you live/work?
Luxembourg, Luxembourg-city

Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
I am passionate about organisational theories and I am especially fascinated at the different approaches between the West and the East (see Nonaka vs. Senge's theories).
I love beautiful things and especially beautiful clothes. I believe it's the most beautiful way for a person to express her personality. I love inquiring about ethical fashion and finding ways to make clothing and consuming fashion beautiful and sustainable.

"Welcome to the on-line Art of Hosting community, Sandy!  If you upload a photo, we can also "see" you here. Join into the conversations, and look around the resources, there are plenty to deepen your practice. You might not know, that there are quite some AoH practitioners in Luxembourg, who work for the European institutions, of whom some are active on this platform.
