How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
After a 3-day intensive AoH training at the mid-Ohio Food Bank in Columbus, OH in December 2009, the practice that I took back to my workplace literally transformed our daily work and team relationships at Ohio State.
I will attend my 3rd ALIA conference this year, and I now work at UCLA.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I didn’t ask for permission to begin using AoH methods or changing the way we conversed at work, but just began because there were sectors of the organization that were in crisis from a morale and strategic perspective. The more events I hosted, the more comfortable it became to carry the practice and transformation to other places on campus.
I'm eager to learn more about how to sustain change-momentum after successful events. How to get others excited to take ownership and action to move ahead.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
Organizational development; strategic technology planning in large public sector organizations; high performance teams.
Where do you live/work?
Los Angeles / UCLA
