Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
Mary Alice Arthur sent me information in an email exchange, catching up on life and work. July 6, 2012 What attracted me is looking at the desciptions. My work is parallel so the people involved in Art of Hosting are my colleagues in this work. I have since become deeply devoted to the practices.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
Attended AoH Art of Participatory Leadership in Petaluma, CA in March 2014, and I incorporate many of the elements in my leadership, holding sacred space for deep, intentional work. My competence as a practitioner, facilitator and leader is 'experienced'. I practiced with a San Francisco Bay Area (Art of Hosting California) circle of practitioners for over a year, co-hosting 3 one day dojos in 2015.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
The primary focus in my work has been supporting leaders through my relationship with them; using all methods of holding space and facilitating self reflection and communication, with a focus on compassion and mindfulness. From there, my work is co-creating, co-designing events and experiences for people that inform, enlighten, and engage them with their true genius within their personal application or organization. In 2017, began supporting Educators' in the work they do. I have co-hosted an almost weekly women's circle, participated in the Naam Yoga community, am a Harmonyum (bio-metaphysical energy therapy) practitioner, and have hosted World Cafe, Open Space, and worked with Appreciative Inquiry, Non-Violent Communication and Compassionate Communication. Have taught Circle Way Structure to volunteer organizations. One colleague and I have developed Playful Inquiry (see playfulinquiry.com)

Lori, what a wonderful conversation we had today! I so deeply appreciate your invitation and the way you hosted Kathy and me.

Kathy, it was such a pleasure to hear you for the first time this year and to listen to you speaking on your great insights.

I am also happy to have had an opportunity to share some reflections on the August event as well as examples that have emerged since November 2012 when Jerry, Kathy, and I met virtually to discuss potential ways of bridging the Art of Hosting practices and the business world.

I really look forward to meeting you both face-to-face in the coming weeks/months, and encourage you to explore further opportunities to collaborate with each other!

Lori,  thank you so much for interviewing Fedor and me earlier today.  It was lovely.  Really appreciate the opportunity and also fabulous to hear Fedor's story since meeting him in August.

Welcome to the Art of Hosting community, Lori! Glad to see you here (and quick work, you!)!  Please post a photo when you can so we can really "see" you here.  Then join in with all the conversations. You'll find plenty of resources here, too, to help you deepen your practice.  And the more you add to your profile, the more the community can learn from you and share with you.
