How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I first learned about the Art of Hosting at the ALIA conference in 2011. While I was familiar with many of the components of Art of Hosting, it was my first experience of so many elements facilitated Art of Hosting style. Loved it.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I have facilitated numerous community and group conversations applying the principles of the Art of Hosting. I was an instigator/co-facilitator of a local Housing Change lab where we used an Art of Hosting approach in f our stakeholder and community meetings. I took Art of Hosting training in Halifax in September 2011. I would say I am somewhere between a new and experienced practitioner.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
I use Art of Hosting principles in all my facilitation work with teams and organizations. I do a lot of strategic planning work in the not for profit sector and use an Art of Hosting approach for stakeholder and community meetings. Change happens through relationship and hearing each others stories. The Art of Hosting provides the tools and context for creating relationship through conversation.
