How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
Primarily through the Berkana Institute. I have a passion for community solutions and communication.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I was raised under a very strict religious background (I am now agnostic) that imposed isolation, even amongst my peers. When I left the religion, I developed a huge almost scientific curiosity and savored the skills involved in reaching out and connecting to people. I also strive to maintain close connection with my two teenagers. I am self-employed with my own accounting/finance practice and act currently as a part-time CFO for a few companies. I have also had to develop unconventional ways to work with my clients in the finance industry, while still embracing my family as a single mom . . . and it worked. I am 37 years new to "Hosting" :)
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
Connectivity with folks of all socioeconomic backgrounds to form lasting community solutions that can be replicated on a large scale.
Where do you live/work?
Denver/Boulder, Colorado
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
I am very open minded to working on many worthy projects. I have currently developed passions about creating non-religious neighborhood based solutions focused on quality exposure to art and music instruction, transportation solutions for children and their working parents, helping unsupervised children of working families in the summer months, a college prepatory education for all children, tutoring, single and mixed family parenting tools, fitness and health and small business solutions. I'm also an avid outdoor enthusiast with many connections in that industry at the business and personal level.
