I'm a South African living in Mozambique. I moved here I thought about starying and growing a canoe club. I managed to find a club that had started the process & had funding boats and training athletes for the African Games that were held in Moz in 2011. I've been working with them to help get the sport off the ground in Moz. Once the athletes had competed the games the funding dried up & so the club has been battling to retain these athletes. I've been working with the club to find a new more susstainable apporach and thought of trying the 'let's get the community to do it' approach I'd just read about, instead of us working so hard for something the community is demanding but not necessarily supporting. So we have started workshops with the canoeing athlete's & are trying to get them to buy into th eprocess through their involvement. We still got a long way to go....
