How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?

27/9/2017. Through discussing needs for training with a colleague, community development worker in local government.

Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)

As a lecturer in community development methods, community researcher and community development worker myself, i have experience teaching and using participatory tools like appreciative inquiry, action research, PLA, and open space technology for many years.

What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?

The primary and recurring theme of my work is facilitating hospitable spaces for groups to draw out and dialogue their stories of lived experience, allowing this collective hermeneutic process to speak to their question of inquiry and growth, allowing their own crafted stories to address their shared practice.

Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?

My skills and passion are in equipping leaders to release the collective wisdom of groups, through facilitating a process through which participants are guided to draw out, dialogue and reflect upon their stories of lived experience, allowing them to renew their personal and shared understandings, and to illuminate ways they can enhance their practice towards better community outcomes.
