Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
As homework for a workshop I will be participating in we were asked to read about the AOH. I have had wonderful experiences with World Cafe, Open Space and other technologies, and am intrigued by the notion of a grand unifying "operating system!"
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I am an OD practitioner, but this is a new approach. Will be training with Berkana at the end of the month and they suggested the site.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
I manage the cultural resources program at Point Reyes National Seashore, a part of the US National Park Service in California. I recently completed the OD program at Sonoma State University, which emphasized whole system change work, taught tools like world cafe and open space, and worked equally on the internal dynamics of the practitioner. It looks like I may have the opportunity now to bring my new OD skills and my work in the Park Service together in an initiative just getting underway. The NPS is lucky to have Meg Wheatley on its advisory board, and Hosting is at the core of this initiative. I'm excited by the prospect of Hosting becoming part of our organizational culture and driving change.
Where do you live/work?
Live: Bolinas, CA Work: U.S.A.
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
I'm passionate about the good and unexpected things that happen when people get together in fertile situations to solve problems, improve their work, address community concerns, whatever. It's a huge charge to be a part of that dynamic.
