How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I learnt about it from a friend, and a fellow facilitator of group and personal conversations - Natasha Dalmia, probably mentioned it a few months back. However i acted on her sharing the email link when she emailed me today. I see alot of what i am involved in what AOH does. I believe that the issues outside and in the world are the same issues within each and everyone of us. Dialogue, sharing and affirmations are pivotal to peace (within us and outside us) and the start of healing (within and outside).
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I have been training facilitators in interfaith dialogue since 2007 (www.eif.com.sg & http://www.tonyblairfaithfoundation.org/pages/education) and prior to that, establishing a place for young people to talk about racism, stereotypes, biases and doing something about it (www.onepeople.sg - on the explorations in ethnicity programme). I have been involved in service learning and experiential education since 1990. My growth and healing has been to a great part due to such a group process.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
Yes, you'll see I am really interested in narrative and story work. It has a real fit with AoH! Most of the activity for AoH in Aussie has been in Melbourne area and in Queensland. There are AoH trainings coming up in Melbourne in August and November I think. But maybe you'll call something and ask us to support it! That would be fun!
Welcome, Farid, great to see you here (that is, we will SEE you here when you upload a picture -- got a good one?). Natasha is keen on a community -- I'm inspired to see what you might do in Singapore. There are plenty of resources to have a look at and conversations to become part of -- I hope this community will be a great one for you and you a great contribution to it!
