Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
Through my professional (meeting facilitator) and personal linkages with Holladay United Church of Christ (SLC UT; ~ 2008). I am very centered on extending an extravagant welcome by honoring the connectedness while celebrating the diversity of life in community, both human and wild.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
Although I have as yet to develop as fully as I aspire to in the fullness as well as the nuances involved in the art of hosting, I have experienced several conferences as a participant and been one of many co-leaders in certain techniques applied (i.e., World Cafe, Future Search, etc.). I would say I am somewhere close to being a starting practitioner, although in many ways still a novice. Being a meeting facilitator has given me some insight, but some groups in the governmental arena are not as flexible in their approach as others.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
I am focused on bringing skills and presence of consciousness into the socio-ecological system to enhance the capacity of leaders to see our human connectedness with the natural world in order to create resilience for a sustainable future.
Where do you live/work?
I work and live in the Salt LAke City area, although am connected to both Alberta and Nova Scotia, having lived there earlier in my life.
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
I love to tell stories and to enable others to craft their own tales for sharing how they connect and derive insights from their socio-cultural-ecological life experiences. I love to guide and coach others to express themselves through the spoken and written word as well as in song so they may experience joy and inner peace.
