Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
oh my... some time years ago. Possibly in a meeting with Meg Wheatley. I have been an internal change leader in government for 30 years. I have been working through the lens of complexity for about 12 years, and I have observed the patterns working in complex ways in organizations and among people. I sought ways to help people shift belief, thinking, and behavior in respectful dialogue.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
As a specific set of practices or discipline, I am new to using AoH. However, I have used related methods encompassing the core values and principles for years- circle; Turning to One Another; World and Conversation Cafes; Open Space. I've known Peter Scholtes for years, and used his work in the TEAM Handbook. I am an experienced facilitator, most recently convening 400 people on healthcare reform for a Federal agency.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
My work has until now, been as an internal change leader in Federal government. Over the past 18 months, my thinking and focus has been more on citizen engagement in policy and governance decisions. Our problems are many, and deep. We will only solve them in respectful collaborative dialogue.
Where do you live/work?
I currently live near Princeton, New jersey, in the US
Would you like to share a web address?
http://complexified.wordpress.com
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
Yes, my life was changed by my initial encounter with complexity. This was at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, in 1998. Since then I obtained a Mastes in Complexity from the U. of Western Sydney. I am a leading voice advocating the "lens of complexity" in the fields of quality and process improvement. Particularly as applies to better government. I am also a passionate fan of delta blues, and green chiles from New Mexico.
