Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I learned about AOH because I used the book Walk out Walk on by Meg Wheatley and Deb Frieze as a case study in a Foundations in Community Development course I teach. The Art of Hosting is featured in there. I am a systems practitioner and scholar, so this organic approach immediately resonated with me, and I was already familiar with many of its ingredients.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I recently attended an AOH training at the San Francisco HUB. I loved it! In my work I facilitate many meetings and workshops. As a college instructor teaching a variety of courses related to sustainabilty, systems thinking, and ecological consciousness, I consider my teaching philosophy as a form of "hosting."
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
I have developed a framework for designing learning experiences as living systems, engaging multiple ways of knowing and fostering living systems awareness in learner-participants.
Where do you live/work?
Berkeley , CA
Would you like to share a web address?

Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
I am a movement facilitator-in-training of a systems-based movement modality called Biodanza (http://www.biodanza.us). And I am passionate about fostering living systems awareness in all life contexts, integrating body, heart, mind, and spirit.

My dissertation in which I developed my pedagogical framework is available at:

It is also summarized in this article (Educators as Architects of Living Systems): www.jsedimensions.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Widhalm2...

You'll find plenty of resources here, too, to help you deepen your practice...Thanks for having posted so much of your background on your profile, very interesting.
