How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?

Along with around 50 others I attended a training event led by Toke Moeller in Edinburgh at the end of November 2013. Some friends in the Unreasonable Learners Network had introduced me to the possibility of us organising and running this training event about a year earlier.
We then held a further training event in May 2014 in which I participated as an apprentice and learned much about running these kinds of events.

Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)

In addition to the apprenticeship undertaken at the training event in Drymen in May, more recently in response to an invitation from our local church a colleague and I have now hosted 2 events in our local church and community.

What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?

At present there is no primary focus, I simply want to encourage and open up opportunities for myself and my fellow participants to develop our competencies. Thus we are approaching our local church and community council in order to suggest our helping them to call for a gathering with a big question, e.g. the future of Scotland, the future of our local community, to be talked about.

Edinburgh and Central Scotland

Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?

I am passionate about whole Systems Thinking and in particular the application of the Vanguard Systems Thinking Method into service organisations.
I am also very interested in the Plan B being promoted by the B Team (Richard Branson et al), the Conscious Business movement, and Simpol - amongst many others!
