The Art of Hosting

(shared via the emaillist, April 14, 2012)

Dear AoH Mates,

Mostly I follow along quietly. Today I would like to share the excitement of a gathering which took place in Minnesota. There were 150 healthcare innovators that gathered for a "facilitated" discussion about the "State of the Triple Aim in Minnesota". These people represented many healthcare organizations, insurers, academics, the government, independent healthcare providers and others. While not all the stakeholders in health and wellness of communities were present, it was a great start. Most present had applied for a CMS (center for medicare-medicaid services) innovation grant. None had heard of their acceptance, yet.
We hosted them for an open space around the question of, "What can we start today which will improve health and wellness for all Minnesotans". Twenty conversations were held over the next 2 hours. They covered a huge array of discussions including:
How can we increase diversity in our healthcare workforce?
How can we integrate healthcare system and community efforts?
How do we empower geriatric patients in their care?
It was amazing!
I will attach my slide presentation in PP and Keynote format to share with the community.  (the Ning system doesn't like these big files, so please ask them straigth from Dawn)
