Harvest from Ohio State University training

We spent December 14 - 16 growing our AoH community of practice at Ohio State University, now nearing 200-strong.  Three days of intense conversation and companionship, standing in the light of our mates in Columbus, and worldwide (Toke, Monica, Phil, Chris Corrigan: you were there in spirit).

In thanks and appreciation, we offer part of our harvest to Hosts everywhere:

The Art of Weaving

I came across a nice blog post on the Art of Weaving; really worthwhile reading!

Here is one of the first paragraphs:

"Weaving, the principal leadership practice in Network Organizing, is an intentional practice of helping people connect to information, opportunity, each other and, most importantly, their own personal power. Weavers do this by opening new…

Eagle Connection

The Eagle’s vision guides us through life’s flow,

Where is the good road, we do not always know.

There are many paths that we can choose

Some we may win and others we may lose.

Look for the lesson in every challenge

Fight with love and put aside revenge.…

The Craft and Art of Change

It would be very difficult to get an argument over whether the earth is round or flat. We have had over five centuries to get used to the idea that the earth is a sphere (mostly).

It is something so basic to our understanding of reality that we hardly ever have to think about it. When we are at very high altitude we may be able to see the curvature of the earth. Or…

Notes from Otto Scharmer lecture

I serendipitously stumbled into an online lecture being given by Otto to the MSLS program in Sweden. Below are my raw notes, orginally posted at my home blog.

((I've highlighted the gems for your scanning pleasure. Scan to the bottom if you're already familiar with his work to get to the really juicy, new stuff.))

Otto Scharmer lecture:

How can I learn from the emerging future rather than simply reflecting on… Continue

Prayer for Bear

A prayer for OSR 17.doc

At the recent AoH retreat on Bowen Island, I read this prayer from the book "In the Bear's House" (by N. Scott Momaday) as part of the closing one afternoon. The whole citation is in this document, which I prepared for the newest OSR cohort a month ago.

A post training/program evaluation questionnaire

Hi All,

The attached evaluation might be happy if you are wanting to do a "happy sheet" style evaluation.

Post Training Questionnaire AoH.doc

I would be interested to collate these globally to be able to analyse a larger data set to continuously improve our programs.

Cheers

POEM: Speak And I Will Listen

At the recent Experienced Practitioner Retreat (Daylesford, Australia) I wrote the following poem in the morning prior to the commencement of the Retreat. At the time I was feeling a strong sense of disconnect with myself, so wrote these words to calm my soul and still my mind.

Stillness speaks
and awakens the sound
of my heart

for those I love.

Nature speaks

and I listen,

deeply,

to its infinite wisdom

Conversation Harvest to the question, "What are conditions that allow spaces of non-judgment to open and remain grounded?"

Earlier this month, I attended an Experienced AofH Practitioner Retreat (in Daylesford, Australia). It was a wonderfully nourishing 1.5 days attended by just over 20 participants.

As part of an OST session hosted during the Retreat, I posed the question, “What are the conditions that allow spaces of non-judgment to open and remain grounded?”…

Learning from Africa - Deep Democracy

The question "What can we learn from India?" was a question that I brought back from my stay in India in 2004. Soon after, the little sister question was born: "What can we learn from Africa?"

Last week-end, I had the opportunity to learn from the Deep Democracy (DD) training that developed in South Africa based on Arnold Mindell's work.

In this DD training we…
