Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
First time I heard of AoH was back in 2009. Since then I started experimenting with the methods. In 2011 I was part of the calling circle for the AoH training in Berlin, with lots of learning along the process. In January 2012 I am apprentice at the AoH training in Denmark and I keep on working deepening my field of interest on complex systems. Nowadays I'm settling the ground for the AoH Italian community of practitioners : http://www.ospitaretrasformazione.it/
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
Art of Hosting for me is more than a simple facilitation tool-box. It is the training of the ability to mutually inspire and grow with other people. To foster human excellence and set relationships on sharing experiences and insights as default. I personally try to do this during the facilitation of grass-root, real social network community-based events (such as hitchgathering.org and nomadbase.org). But I also try to apply the same care during my numerous hitchhiking rides across Europe, in the art projects I do (where I collect stories in exchange for bread), and in the workshops and community of practice I co-facilitate. Let's say that AoH has its applications wherever human connections are.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
At the moment, I am focusing on learning about Transformation of people, organization, society and complex systems.
My main interests are in the field of action research, multi-stake holders engagement, art and personal-memory, transition to alternative more sustainable lifestyles and cities, and the promotion of critical thinking.
Where do you live/work?
Italy

Lovely, Valentina.  I may be back in touch to connect you to a woman in Portugal who is living the same dynamic.  One of my AOH "mates", and co-hosts in several local offerings, just returned home to Canada from a month in Portugal.  A lost jacket in a car rental resulted in the fortuitous meeting with lovely Helga.  A short but meaningful conversation with the promise to continue via email and skype.  We'll see.  Thank you.
