How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I have been hosting in various forms throughout my career, primarily in corporate and governmental sectors and in partnership with the NGO sector. My passion now is hosting in the field of maternal and infant health - and this is a new field!!
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I have been practicing AOH processes for over 6 years. I have been involved with groups such as Pioneers of Change, Women Moving the Edge, and various projects with community members over the years. However! I only just attended my first official AOH training which we hosted in Madison Wi November 2011 and most recently participated in Healthier Healthcare Systems AOH Salt Lake City Jan 2012.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
My dream is to host a learning journey/change lab focused on improving maternal and infant health - the overall experience of birth particularly in the US. Inviting to the table insurance companies, hospitals, obstetricians, midwives, mothers, complementary therapists etc. and have a system conversation for reform.
I moved here to start a job at a church in Monona which makes my schedule really random but really flexible. It would be great if we could chat! My schedule is super flexible and so even if you wanted to meet up for coffee (either before or after your trip) that would be awesome. For the next couple of days I am completely open except for Wednesday night. Thanks!
Hi! My name is Breanna and I just moved to Madison and am looking to connect with folks who are doing AoH. In Chicago (where I moved from) I had just learned about a AoH Community of Practice for IL and I'm trying to figure out if there is anything like that here. I've done World Cafes and read a lot about the other parts of AoH and am wanting to use and learn more about these techniques. Do you know if there are any groups of folks here in Madison who are getting together to learn more about AoH? Thanks!
