Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
Let's see. I'm not sure I can pin point the exact moment in time, but it all started with Christina Baldwin's "Self as Story" module at Shambhala, June 2007. From there I attended AoH Kirkridge 2007 and AoH Bear Mountain 2008...

My attraction to AoH and circle and meaningful conversations and collaborative, creative communities was an overwhelming feeling of being "home"....
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I am a daily practitoner of hosting conversations and moments that matter. I have hosted and co-hosted many purposeful conversations (with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours). I am not a “steward” in the formal sense, however I believe that the deep intentions of the practice are worth stewarding. From this place of commitment comes many possibilities.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
So far it has ranged from meeting facilitation at work... to women's gatherings and leadership circles...to community conversations during a municipal election... to the hosting of ceremonies and celebrations (i.e. a "women's welcome to our family" circle for my newborn niece; an initiation into eldership for a close friend; an honouring circle for my Mom's 65th birthday)
Where do you live/work?
Burlington, Ontario (close to Toronto)
Would you like to share a web address?

Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
Community building, restoring ceremony and storytelling, co-creating positive sustainable change. Mindfullness.

Great to hear from you too, Laurel! I don't think we will be in ALIA this year in person, but we will certainly be there in spirit!
