Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
Through my work with youth social infrastructure, we invited Tim Merry to host a gathering around building a community of practice. Tim's AoH techniques were very effective at the gathering and in building a solid core team. This work with Tim started in spring 2009. In 2010, with Tim, we called a training in Taking the Art of Participatory Leadership to Scale on Gibraltar Point in Toronto, hosted by Toke Moeller, Marianne Knuth, Tuesday Ryan-Hart and Tim Merry.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I am an active practitioner with building experience finding that I infuse AoH in much of my current work. I am combining this with a passion for conflict facilitation, and weaving in deep democracy principles using process work methodology.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
Shifting communities, innovating new structures/ solutions to social problems, social justice work.
Where do you live/work?
Toronto/Ontario
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
I have a passion for systems change theories. I'm also into alternative health (I am a trained homeopath), and really love being in the woods.

Hi Violetta!

My dear friend Yumi Namata went to the taster event this week in Toronto (she said it was on circle practice and it was really lovely). She's looking forward to attending the Art of Hosting. We've worked together on planning a conference (XYBOOM) and I used AoH approach/philosophies for the conference planning, design and hosting.

I especially loved to hear that you brought circle practice to the taster! Circle is very near and dear to my heart and I'm excited to connect with others who carry the lineage of that process .... and curious to know what they are missing as a global collective of circle practitioners that could help connect, nourish, and illuminate the edges of our practice.

Hope to chat more with you - til then it's nice to meet you virtually!
