How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
Learned about AoH in 2004 from Lana Wertz who was president of Berkana at the time. Experienced practitioner, steward to my community.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
Experienced practitioner.

My work is advancing new ways to make organizations successful, address the most pressing problems, and create sustainable communities. I am committed to nurturing social change agents and social entrepreneurs, and to supporting leaders who are engaging in fresh practices and approaches, shifting cultures and bringing new life to their communities and colleagues.

I am Principal of New Possibilities Associates in Louisville, which offers planning, training, facilitating, ongoing consulting, and coaching for leaders. My previous work is in planning, developing, and leading change strategies for community and organizational systems. I help groups find new solutions to difficult problem, host conversations that matter, build community. Experienced in large group facilitation, I use multiple modalities including Open Space Technology, World Cafe, and Theory U.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
Sustainable solutions to issues in organizations and communities where there are high levels of chaos, complexity, diversity, and disagreement--messes.

The Craft and Art of Change

It would be very difficult to get an argument over whether the earth is round or flat. We have had over five centuries to get used to the idea that the earth is a sphere (mostly).

It is something so basic to our understanding of reality that we hardly ever have to think about it. When we are at very high altitude we may be able to see the curvature of the earth. Or…
