How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I attended my first training in 2006 in denmark hosted by Toke, Monica, Sven Ole and Charlotte Mannsted. Since then I have participated in a range of trainings and started to organize, convene and host trainings in Berlin, Hazelwood, UK, Karlskrona SE and Århus, Denmark
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I see myself as a practioner of the art of hosting and harvesting conversations that matter.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
How to create meaningful and powerful coversations.
How can harvesting help leverage the power and impact of our conversations.
Theory U and the creative process - especially in nature.
Where do you live/work?
Bogota, Colombia
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
Intuition, creativity, collective intelligence, the transforming power of nature and engaging in and hosting meaningful conversations.
Two guiding phrases these days are:
Listen to the Silence and See the Invisible
and
I want to connect to our sense of being indigenous to place and to the inherent knowledge that we all hold about how to be in conversation.
Thanks for the welcome Rowan. I'm familiar with John Milton's good work. I do similar work -- taking people into nature for some "alone" time. It is amazing the Self-ish transformations which sometimes takes place. I've seen people return from a vision quest with a different face -- lighter, radiant -- and new purpose. It is a wonderful moment to experience individuals stepping into someone larger than what they were a few short days before.
Thank you for the welcome, Rowan :) - I have heard your name through the AoH circles I am connected to, and I see Theory U in your profile; well, that's was the community (Presencing Institute) that was holding me since 2008, and I guess, it is time to move more into practical action bringing conscious conversations and dialogues into communities especially in our region at this present moment now, so I found myself signing up here ... i look forward to discovering what this means for me and what I can bring into and learn from the community ... once again, thank you :)
Thanks a lot for your welcoming. Now I am working in Embu das Artes, a small city of the metropolitan region of São Paulo, The big challenge is to put people together to dialogue and find solutions to preserve a protected area at the city. They have to recognize and understand the value of biodiversity from this land against the land market.
I am interesting to do a doctorate research connecting the Environmental Education to Art of hosting methodologies. Please let me know if you have some contacts or information about this filed.
Rowan - thank you for the welcome. My work right now is in laying down the grooves for a nascent Zen practice community in southern Utah (US). My practice is hosting Beloved others, those seeking to organize into a fuller and freer embrace of the human possibility. I appreciate the resources of this site as we enter the first phases of community building in this hospitable place. I will post about our process as it unfolds. All best, Julia
myself and a friend are on conversation around how to bring the art of hosting and conversations that matter to Harare. We really would need help how to break this new ground. As soon as we are clear of what we want to do we will come to the community and ask for help.
(not yet knowing of a place where to put this kind of info on this site).
From FOUR YEARS GO network I am involved in: an online HOSTED dialogue/teleconferencing platform is developed and operational: weDialogue. Something to check out.
Hi Rowan thanks for the very warm welcome below. i am very glad to now be woven into the aoh ning (community) , so i can participate and contribute more often on these multiple(digi')platforms as well. a very lovely+inspiring 'dojo' group is making roots in KBH (thanks to hosts David and AnneChristine); and it will be great to have you join-in as well when you are back in DK over sommer. i will send you a regular email direct/now , with PDF info+invite on the Co'Creation project/course that will launch in Fall'11. sweet you recalled about it! it would be brilliant to have you be a part: if it works into you busy globe-surfing schedule :-) let's be sure to connect in juni/juli, when you arrive in DK. until then -and always, i flow you best greetings. peace/in, peace/out, courtney
I have been studying with Andean medicin men and been here a few times - this time a dear friend of mine felt a calling so we co-created this trip. Go to www.naisha.com to read more - go to the calendar and click on trip to Peru. /J
Thanks for your comment and me me feel welcome in this space. I was attending the Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) course last oktober 2010 at Findhorn. The following months ahead I will go back to Findhorn to live and work there.
Please tell me more about your connection with Findhorn and the ecovilage network.
Reconnecting with nature.....
The other day I met a met a street musician playing the didgeridoo. He was having a big tattoo on his back with the following text...
What makes money people do to each other if the earth is our mother and everyone is our brother?
This question was spinning in my mind and heart for weeks, this brought me to a visionary question that I can relate to my own life.
Imagine.......
You live on a earth were money nor goods or services were used as vehicles to exchange value...........
What is the essence of value for you in this reality and how do you express and exchange it with others?
I might organize and co-host an "Art of hosting" session around this subject.
Thank you Rowan for the warm welcome! Great to see you here, this online space looks wonderful and alive. Our adventure at Hub Madrid is amazing although I am planning to move to Berlin by the end of May. I will post it in the Spanish group, but if you know somebody, there are two hosting positions available! Spread the word... http://hubmadrid.com/blog/2011/03/oportunidades-en-el-hub-madrid/
Thank you Rowan, it was a pleasure to read your message. I work in an environment with AoH enthusiasts and participatory leadership practiotioners. I appreciate the feeling of belonging to an international community.
Hi Rowan. Thank you for your welcome. I share your interest in the transforming role of nature. I've known this is true since my childhood. As an adult I've participated in vision quests and lead wilderness trips for youth and adults. My focus these days is on how AoH can help transform public education. I hope we get a chance to meet someday.
Great to meet you again... Hub Oaxaca has been moving on, for more than a year now. And I am becoming a big fan of the AOH practice... by the way, we are organizing an AOH training in July. In spanish. in oaxaca... Soon the info will be out so it can be posted... Best.... Sten
Hi Rowan, Thanks for your welcome and invitation to upload my photo. I just haven't gotten around to it, so your reminder is appreciated. I look forward to integrating myself into the community here very soon.
thank you for your warm welcome :-), it is and has been great connecting with the field of the Art of Hosting offline and I'm happy to start contributing also on the ning online,
I was blessed to meet my shamanic teacher about seven years ago, quite by accident, as I took the session with her in the place of someone was unable to attend the appointment, but I had been searching for this for most of my life.
I requested apprenticeship with Cáit Branigan, an Irish speaking wise woman, immediately after that first session realising this was the right thing to do and I am just completing that process now. I believe it is important to connect with a teacher within ones own culture, even though this practice does transcend nationalities. Shamanism has facilitated change in my life at the deepest level, and is intimately connected to our relationships with our fellow community of beings, including human, animal plant and other natural forms not widely considered sentient.
I love facilitating meaningful conversation, and world cafe has brought me so much joy, but now my attention is turning towards deepening my understanding and practice of council and circle work, which I wish to develop and utilise within the Transition Movement centring on the Heart and Soul aspects.
I look forward to connecting with other practitioners here.
There are as many ways to this as there are people on their ways, everybody does it their own way.... One can learn Shamanic technique to help them in their own spiritual journey, its a little more work if one is going to become a practicing Shaman and work with other people too. Nature is my greatest teacher and learning to communicate with Nature is my greatest joy too. I wish you well on your path, Rowan. In Ireland Rowan is the name of a tree, the wild mountain ash tree.
Hi Rowan, hope you are your family are doing well.
I got the impression that you are in the group hosting this site right? I'm thinking to make an AoH page on facebook that is global where events, invitation etc can be posted. There are a lot of local groups, but no shared page for AoH in general. If you and others wants to be admins on the site, just get a hold of me :) I'm on facebook quite a lot because I am behind a couple of sites, so it would be easy for me to share relevant AoH news through FB too.
