The Art of Hosting

Working with Groupworks Pattern Language Cards

2 weeks ago, I was in Totnes, UK for attending a Transition Town Launch Training.

I stayed in Totnes the week after the training and participated in Transition Town Totnes and Schumacher College events and activities.

Here is a pattern reflection of my stay there using the Groupworks Pattern Language Card Deck as a reflection tool:

Card Map Totnes Experience 1:

First row: Patterns I have appreciated during the Transtion Town Launch Training
Second + third row: Patterns I have experienced during my stay (one week) in Totnes

Card Map Totnes Experience 2:
First row: Patterns I wish, I had explored more during that week
Second row: Patterns I take away from that week to weave in with Transition Town Kiel in the near future

Note beyond: There are two great videos on Card Maps using these cards (one on the patterns of Appreciative Inquiry and the other one with Peggy Holman on Groupworks Deck Patterns). The online Card Maps on Art of Hosting practices World Café and Appreciative Inquiry are great to look at, as well - you might want to include them in your next AoH workbook ;-)

Now, I just found out this morning, i.e. someone pointed me to the website, that there is Pattern Language group within the Transition Research Network: http://patterns.transitionresearchnetwork.org/Home+discussion
