Profile Information:

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
Yarnfield Park, Stoke on Trent

5th December - 7th December

I learnt about Art of Hosting firstly through work as a participant of open space and world café. As a Community Organiser, I value the importance of no agendas and the idea of collective intelligence and self organising for solutions and the training seemed a perfect tool to use.

After attending the training, I found it was more of a mindset than a tool. It was honestly the best training I've ever been on and I felt I learnt a lot about hosting, but also about myself and other people.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I have experienced Art of Hosting quite a few times before as a participant through my work. I am a community organiser as part of the Community Organisers Programme in England, and it was regularly used by training staff in residentials.

Kinda knowing the techniques I tried to do it in my community, sometimes with great success and sometimes very badly. Now, after a few days training on Art of Hosting I feel that I understand the process much deeper and I am excited to start using it in the community.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
Community Work - supporting communities to come up with their own solutions.
Where do you live/work?
Live - Newton-Le-Willows, Merseyside Work - Trafford, Manchester.

Hello, Maddie, and welcome to the Art of Hosting community! Glad to see you here. I heard from Linda Joy Mitchell (a dear friend!) about the Yarnfield Park session ... and how moving it was! Wonderful stuff happens when you bring these practices out to people that care... Post a photo when you can so we can really "see" you here. Then join in with all the conversations. You'll find plenty of resources here, too, to help you deepen your practice. And the more you add to your profile, the more the community can learn from you and share with you. We hope you will find value in exchanging in this virtual community!
