How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I missed the 2010 AoH event in Illinois, but just experienced the training in May 2011 in Lisle, Illinois at Morton Arboretum. I've been growing a local community of practitioners and wanted to expand my resources and support network.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I've been a part of a group experiment called MarketPlace Learning Community in Chicago, where we host conversations bi-weekly with the goal of holding space for people of all ages and backgrounds to immerse in diversity of though, ideas and wisdom. Everyone brings value to the conversation, and everyone leaves with more than what they came with. I'd say that I'm an experienced practitioner of some methodologies, but not all--so I am still quite hungry to learn about all of the applications and success stories of this community.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
Human performance & potential in the context of community development.
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
I enjoy spending time in nature, especially near or in the water. I get great pleasure listening to and creating music and poetry, especially live performances--nothing like that energy. Most of all, I am a proud papa to three happy, inquisitive and playful children...and I try to reflect them as much as they reflect me.
Welcome, Kevin, glad to see you here! I hope you find lots of support and connection in this community. Have a look at the resources and the conversations and dive in! Love to have a picture of you posted as soon as you can, so we can really "see" you here!
