How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
A friend mentioned it while we were starting up Proaction Cafe in Singapore early 2009 ~ It helped me attune to 'hosting', a far cry from the conventional training background I had been introduced to. I appreciate the website much - Chaordic Principles, the practice, the art, the fellowship - it felt like a calling to commit to what matters, much like how it happened in the LOTR :) and I was amazed at the dedication, sharings and email exchanges amongst the community.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I believe I am a novice, and I have not yet had any formal training in AOH. I hope the one in Budapest, if it happens in English, in May, might be the answer to my quest. Yet, I feel connected with the philosophy of 'emergence' and am a practitioner of World cafe, Open Space and am keen to learn and connect with the community in the years ahead.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
Hmm, I do a blend of facilitation, training, coaching and play with design with a clientele group that ranges from students to teachers, executives and managers in organisations. Few topics that have touched me are Cross Cultural Communication, Diversity Appreciation, Self as the Instrument, and primarily to sustain the space for dialogue.
Where do you live/work?
Singapore
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
I enjoy being a Jane of many trades and master of perhaps one or am actually ok with none! Hence, a kaleidoscope of interests keeps me happy but not focused as scuba diving, dancing, learning music and painting, sketching, traveling and appreciating cultures, writing, photography, trying out new things and keeping a big space for the unknown - to be discovered.
