Also, the page listing online tools doesn't seem to allow for comments.  Other tools for online hosting/facilitation are indexed on the NCDD Resource Center at http://ncdd.org/rc/page/3?category_name=collaborative-technology&am....  There you'll find info about tools like MindMixer, CivicEvolution, Open Space Online, Hackpad, Collaborize, Civic Commons, Maestroconference, Front Porch Forum, and many more tools.

Another idea...

About two years ago, the NCDD community had a rich conversation on our LinkedIn group about ground rules and best practices in virtual facilitation.  Though 2 years is a HUGE amount of time in the online realm, many of the tips and techniques in this thread are still very helpful -- especially for facilitating synchronous conversations on conference calls and webinars. That's themed and archived at http://ncdd.org/rc/item/5086.

Couple of ideas...

Jill Miller Zimon from Civic Commons (TheCivicCommons.com) just posted on the National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation (NCDD) blog a couple of days ago. Her blog post titled "In Search of Excellence…in Online Engagement" can be found at http://ncdd.org/11356 and the online conversation she references (a discussion on tips and tricks for online facilitation hosted at Civic Commons) is up at http://theciviccommons.com/conversations/tips-and-tactics-for-onlin....
