Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I learned several years ago from friends in the US, my ORSC community, I am a big Margaret Wheatley follower, and I have read Peter Senge's work and Walk Out/Walk On when it came out. I also just attended my 1st AoH event in Cairo 2 weeks ago.
Tell us about your experience with Art of Hosting as part of your life and work. What would you say your competence in it is? (new, starting practitioner, experienced practitioner, steward)
I am an American living in India for 2 years working with tough communities thru collaborative and experiential education models. I am a Certified Coach, ORSC Coach, trained in Train the Trainer, Non Violent communication, conflict resolution, etc. I love and believe that the only sustainable way for communities to work together and be part of solutions is through deep, honest and open communication. They have to be part of the solutions and "buy-in" for there to ever be sustainability.
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
There are so many issues here in communities through India. Human Rights violations, oppression of girl child and women, fear based and controlled societies, mass corruption and fear of governing officials, lack of values based training, immense poverty, caste system and other prejudices, etc. Every community has their own issues and therefore has to be part of sourcing their own answers. This is the work that I do with both youth and adults. I am an independant that supports several different organizations, as well as schools and colleges.
Where do you live/work?
Bangalore India and outlining rural communities
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
Human Rights for all one of my passions, which encompasses so much (right to food, right to choices, right to education & good health, right to safety, etc). I am also passionate about deep authentic conversations, good questions that take people on a self discovery, people being able to make conscious choices v just reacting. I also would love people to celebrate the differences in each other vs fearing them.

Welcome to the Art of Hosting community, Kathryn! Glad to see you here - and nice to see another Kaospilot onboard! Please post a photo when you can so we can really "see" you here. Then join in with all the conversations. You'll find plenty of resources here, too, to help you deepen your practice. And the more you add to your profile, the more the community can learn from you and share with you.

You might also want to connect with Augustine Veliath and Natasha Dalmia who are hatching plans for an Art of Hosting training in India.
