Profile Information

How did you learn about Art of Hosting (please add the date and place) and what attracted you to it?
I joined the Art of Hosting community in Essex, Mass in April 2008. I had loved Meg Wheatley's writings and met her in NZ; I loved the work of the Berkana Institute; and have previously worked with Otto Scharmer and Peter Senge.

I have been facilitating and hosting as my core work since 2000; and currently am convening the NZ national cross-sector dialogue on Land and Water; and growing a Trusteeship community of learning from this group; and growing a stewardship community in my home area - the Waimea Inlet area of Nelson. I am an experienced practitioner in a variety of modalities, and a less experienced practitioner in others!
What is the primary field/topic/focus in your hosting work?
My commitment is to grow Trusteeship as the work of adulthood; the mature, still, stewardship of social, environmental and business innovation; and the growth of ourselves; our emerging young leaders and our elders as people who "know what to do", and "know how to do it" - that is, who know their Work. I have tended to work cross-sectorally, sometimes with an environment or a local community focus; I love especially the practice of what I call "the ecology of commitment" - once we find our commitment, life is more peaceful, powerful and productive together.

I pay attention to listening; to the container and the field; to setting the context and to critical moments and transitions. To intention, and to emptiness. To laughing at myself and the sheer delight in life.
Where do you live/work?
Nelson, New Zealand; I work across NZ and Australia; and have worked in the US, Japan and India.
Are there interests/passions that you'd like to share?
I'm a shore-dweller, an edge-dweller and a poet. I love silence and stillness, I love to laugh and love courage and creativity. I care for my Dad (88) who loves climbing mountains (literally and spiritually). I am writing, meditating and loving living back in the South Island. Sometimes I yearn to travel again, but for now, I'm even more interested in you coming and visiting here!
